Web API -- Get List of Users?

A. L. Flanagan 6 years ago in BLOX CMS 0

There are APIs to check if a user exists, get user data, update users, delete users, etc. -- but not one to retrieve a list of users. That would seem like an obvious query -- am I missing something?

<paid> field in RSS feed

Nick 7 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Laura 6 years ago 1

I'm trying to get certain stories to be outside our Whiz app paywall. It seems like the app determines what's behind or outside the paywall based on the <paid> tag.  <paid>1</paid> is behind the paywall and <paid>0</paid> is outside. Is there a way to manually change that for specific assets?

I could do it with section tags but I don't want it to link to a section tag that's only reason for existing is to stop the paywall. The reason for this is I want to be able to send push notifications linking to specific assets but I want them to be free if I push them. I could set up a "push" section tag but on the website I don't want the asset to be on the URL /push/article_658aae14-6597-51fd-aaea-43d1056cf9a9.html.

Syncing section tags in TCMS and CMS

Alex Hayes 6 years ago in BLOX Total CMS updated by Christine Masters 6 years ago 4

We recently upgraded to TCMS.

I added a new section tag in CMS and altered the block where i want to pull stuff into. However, that tag is not in TCMS. I have tried creating it in TCMS in hopes that it would go to CMS but it isn't there.

Please help! How do I get section tags to sync.

My developer figured it out! He changed the feed to an atom feed and it scraped the image. Here's how one of my feeds are set up. It is pulling from a keyword search of "washington county." The ips=300 is contraining the image to a width of 300, so you can adjust that to whatever size you'd like. Just make sure you also add the *|RSSITEM:IMAGE|* to you RSS code where you want the image to appear.

Hi-DPI/retina ads

ShorthornAdam 6 years ago in BLOX CMS 0

I am curious if anything's in the works for high-resolution ads. Our site looks great on Retina Macs and hi-DPI phones and tablets but the ads look fuzzy since they are still at 72 ppi. Maybe have the ability to upload something proportionally larger (2-3x) in the same spots (like a 900x750 would be allowed in a 300x250 spot and smashed to fit)?

Custom Fields / Custom Assets Support

Robert Dundon 6 years ago in BLOX CMS 0

Currently, we can create/update/delete editorial assets in the API. That's great!

Also, making custom JSON search components, we can control the search results returned in JSON a bit. That's great too!

However, unlike CMS systems like Directus, WordPress, and others, we cannot create custom fields. We can have custom properties, but they are not searchable, or have a input type (like date, integer, sting).

Currently you can search with and create content for per-defined fields for certain types of classifieds assets. COuld we have a way to create/modify custom fields for classifieds and editorial assets?

Current use case: Things like charts, school closings, and other various ideas for "custom"/pre-defined content types could be handled pretty easily in Blox CMS with little outside code (if at all).

GDPR and EAA/EU availability

Rob Weir 6 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Robert Dundon 6 years ago 24

Is there a timeline or plan for when sites might be available in the EAA/EU again? I know that the Missourian is somewhat of an outlier, being at a journalism school, but we have a large number of alums and readers in the EU, and also send profs over there to teach quite often. Our London and Brussels programs would sure like to be able to view our content.

(I know everyone is dealing with this, I don't mean it to be a knock at all, but just want to know what to tell people when they ask me.)

thanks, Rob

Can't search for Elections Stats assets

David Marsters 10 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by apuoles g 44 kaunas 6 years ago 2
Unless I'm missing something, it seems to me that a user can't successfully find anything created in the Elections Stats app with a search on our website, because the search asset types don't include the Elections Stats asset types. (And by virtue of this, you can't create any custom search blocks that target Election Stats assets). I've tested this several ways and never been able to hit upon an Election Stats asset in a search. For example, if you search for "John Doe", you'll be able to find articles he was mentioned in, but never his candidate asset or the race asset he's included in. This seems like a huge oversight, because users are going to be searching for candidates by name. We're displaying all the candidates on our elections pages, of course, but the reality of how people use news sites is that they're going to search by name before clicking through to that page and scrolling down to find who they're looking for.

BLOXeption feature

Nick 6 years ago in BLOX CMS updated 6 years ago 2

A Wordpress widget I use frequently allows the creation of block regions like the BLOX wireframes. You can actually use that widget to create a block region within a block region in which you then place the content blocks. It's a sort of block-ception(to use a portmanteau of block and the movie Inception).

I was trying to create a custom page earlier and I'd love to be able to do the same thing in BLOX I can with Wordpress. I'm calling it BLOXeption. Basically you could create wireframes within the standard BLOX wireframes. This would really open up the ability to customize pages immensely. You would just have to setting determine how each new wireframe collapsed as the screen width changes.

Looking for author and byline field for collections

We are setting up Google Data Studio dashboards for reporters and editors. However collection assets don't roll up under reporter totals because they don't have author/byline fields available.

Auto-posting of weather warnings and advisories?

Casanova Nurse 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Christine Masters 6 years ago 7
I hope consideration can be given to the idea of displaying severe weather warnings, watches, and advisories automatically and prominently on a site's homepage.  Users of our website want immediate information on severe weather warnings, which we currently can't provide.  As one of your TV clients who switched to Blox from other CMS's, this glaring gap in breaking weather information has placed us at a huge disadvantage compared to previous CMS's and current competing websites.  Internal corporate IT folks have been trying to develop a system of severe weather postings manually, but it is not practical when dealing with warnings issued in rapid succession while juggling other severe-related live coverage needs on broadcast TV or web stream.
