I've found no elegant way of doing this. We just add content to the bottom of an asset and say something like ...

UPDATE 1:30 p.m.

The ideal approach would be a new type of asset completely(ie, not just an article). One that you input content for each update and the system marks the update time. It wouldn't be something we would use every day but boy would it be useful for those local emergency situations. Maybe a "Live Update" asset or something.

So we would definitely use something like this.

I've had it crash when I to change the view mode too. Check with your sales rep if you want to be included in the app.

Stories on the Whiz app not sorting by priority is a big downside. But as far as I know that's a BLOX problem. There is no way to sort an RSS feed by start time AND priority. You can sort by start time, which is what we do, and see the newest stories up top. Or you can sort by priority and get all of the highest priorities from who-knows-when up top.

I didn't realize they didn't have metering but I wasn't involved in all of the development of our app.

We've just gone live with an app from Whiz Technologies in the past week. So far we're very pleased. We have a paywall on our website but opted to leave the paywall down on the app to drive traffic there. Eventually the goal is to have a meter like our website. Whiz also developed TownNews' Live e-Editions app so BLOX and Whiz work well together as you have to log in to publications that require a subscription to view e-Editions.

I was very reluctant to have a mobile app until recently because 90% of the news apps out there were just garbage. They crashed often, weren't intuitively laid out, etc. But I think apps have really matured in the past few years. We looked at Whiz and DoApp and ultimately felt Whiz was the direction to go.

If you have any other questions let me know.

Yes! You win the thread! I love that idea. Because if I set it to 123456 probably 90% of our subscribers are just going to use that rather than tracking down the page to change their password. It would be much better to prompt them to change it upon login.

I agree this makes the most sense. I guess I just get tired of people claiming they have been locked out of their account and blame our system for changing their password when the reality of it is that they just can't remember their own password. In a perfect world we could just tell them their password but I understand it's a security risk.

I typically have them tell me what they want their password to be because I know it's so much quicker than walking them through changing their password. And most of the people, even if you walk them through the process of changing the password, will still call back if it happens again.

Bumping this to see if there's any more interest. I think this is a no-brainer feature. BLOXCMS should be able to style bylines and not have TCMS affect those at all. Styling in print and online are two totally different worlds.

We just had a major redesign of our paper, which means different snippets, styles etc. All of that completely messes up the bylines when it hits the website. So we have to tinker and tinker until we make sure the inDesign styles work for print and online.

#1 is correct.

The end date is the last full day of the ad. So if you say End date: Aug. 31 it will end Aug. 31 at 11:59 p.m. and would no longer be live on Sept. 1 12:00 a.m.
