Hi Kyle!

This appears to be the same issue as this one: http://community.townnews.com/topics/575-users-are-having-to-clear-cache-to-view-flex-e-editions/

We are actively researching this right now and trying to reproduce. Clearing cache does fix the problem but it is not reasonable to tell end users to do that.

There are other sites on the internet experiencing this with Safari iOS10:

http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/253605/why-is-safari-on-ios-10-not-rendering-some-pages-correctly

http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/safari-not-rendering-webpages-correctly-in-ios-10.2000753/

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7679438

If you personally are able to reproduce the problem, are you using any content blockers as several users on those threads have stated?

Just FYI, our dev team is investigating. We have an iOS 10 device where we will check it every morning and see if we can reproduce.

As always, we can't address the issue until we can reproduce it, so if anyone has anymore details or thoughts on how to re-create the issue, that would help! :)

Here is the doc which discusses how you can use flags to reduce caching times for important articles:

http://help.bloxcms.com/knowledge-base/applications/design/blocks/block-library/article_d2b122f4-f038-11e4-a844-ff7a130047bb.html

As the doc says, there are a few limitations, but in general you'll get updates about every minute or so.

However! Note that this does not affect the users' local browser cache. That is still subject to a 5-minute cache. (You could, if you could find the right words, tell users to force reload the page. It is different in different browsers though, so I'm not sure if there could be an elegant way to say this.)

So this doesn't really work for "live blogging" - but it should address the needs of corrections and story updates and breaking news that you want to push to the front page.

We did have a discussion internally today about some enhancements we can make to bring us closer to having some kind of live blogging environment... I will look into that as a possible future feature.

As a side note, we use video.js on Flex, not Flowplayer. Video.js is also an HTML5 video player.

The new Flex templates use an HTML5 video player. I'm not sure if we will be able to migrate Zen, due to site customizations and other issues, but it is possible.

It's also important to note that our passwords are hashed with a one-way algorithm, so from a technical perspective we couldn't show passwords even if we wanted! :)

I think our preference would be that if someone calls because they can't log in, you reset their password. This can be done in the admin in the user account area. So, they can call and say they don't know their password, you change it to 123456, and then tell them that (or help them reset it themselves which teaches them to do it in the future). And then recommend they log in and change it. This way you don't get access to their original password (which could be used in other places).

Hey Aidian, Can you provide more specifics of what you're trying to do? Are you working with a specific RSS feed from an external website? Or are you working with another BLOX site? If so, can you provide the URL you're working with? (You can email me at cmasters@townnews.com). Thanks!

I have a feature request in for an "advanced search" in editorial, to be able to give you more user-friendly search options that are easily discoverable through the UI. I think that will help resolve this ticket.

As Robert mentioned, for now you can type uuid:<uuid> in the search box. For example:

uuid: be7cb1b9-ecfd-55c1-8e97-d09a252a4a7b

And that works. But, as we see here, that's tough to figure out with no external help. :) Thanks!

Thanks! I've submitted this as a bug ticket.
