So, I did another one of these and had some of the same issues, until I added some html assets... Funny thing happened, the HTML assets showed up between the timeline arrows exactly the way I was hoping the article assets would. Also "Extras" (the html assets) were listed on the right and articles on the left, which fixed some of my issues with the formatting of the article list. So I thought to myself, maybe I put pictures in the collection and make the articles "children." But wait, that screws up my "not a child of another asset" queries I was so excited about. And then I realized, those queries are screwed up anyway because the articles were made "children" of the collection asset. Time to clone some stories so they show up in the collection and in block
For some reason it escaped me that they are hierarchical... Since they are it would be nice if you could drag and drop... Currently I can't, for example, move Owensboro Ky so it is under Kentucky. I would have to recreate it.
Find only assets that are not children.... Just watched webinar... Woohoo... doing a dance...
Aaron,
a number of recorded webinars are at http://www.townnews365.com/calendar/customer_webinars/ but I didn't find this one there. I'm seeing a lot of changes and hope this one was recorded.
Like the change... would love to be able to set presentation mode somewhere in the feed but my staff is much more likely to use it here than buried under other.
Ticket number 562323...

I would have thought an issue like this would have been a system wide fix not a tweak to each customer's templates as they encounter the issue (edited to remove phone numbers)

Everything tested ok ... paywall works where it should and is bypassed where it should be... Tested on desktop and touch5. Closing ticket.

Ashley, I've looked at articles with and without the bypass set and each seem to be behaving properly on my android phone and tablet. I've asked another staff member to look at them on his ipad and as soon as I get the ok there I will close the ticket.

Hi Mike,

Everything is looking good.
I used the story http://www.messenger-inquirer.com/news/local/campers-are-ready-to-romp/article_bc82b9a9-9c71-5995-a0fb-9749dedd297b.html to test things.

The story is view-able on desktop and touch 5, while other stores are hidden behind the paywall.

I apologize again for any inconvenience.

Please give me a call if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Ashley Burroughs

Please go to our site on a mobile device and do a search on "ROMP"

"the people of ROMP" subscription_bypass=true
"ROMP crowd likely topped 20,000" subscription_bypass=true
"Stellar lineup, atmosphere lead to ROMPing good time" subscription_bypass=true

We are still back where we began. Paywall is in place on touch5 but subscription bypass is not working...

The articles listed above are accessible on www.messenger-inquirer.com without login or subscription

However they are not accessible on touch 5.

Articles with subscription_bypass are now free. Thank You.

Articles without subscription_bypass are also now free on touch 5... We have no paywall at the moment for mobile users.

We had a series of articles we wanted in our regular news sections but wanted to be free... We set the subscription_bypass custom property to true for these articles and they displayed correctly in the pc browser if no user was logged in or a logged in user didn't have a subscription.

However when the event staff pulled the articles up on their tablets, the touch 5 version of the articles displayed the preview and then the Activate or subscribe buttons.

this is not good as the event was an advertiser and part of the contract was that the articles related to the event would not be behind the paywall.
As someone who is not a business directory subscriber I consider school(other) closings to be a core function of a local news website. I don't think the functionality should require the business directory... I would, however, understand if the system were somehow enhanced or easier to use for BD subscribers. Similar to how you can enter venue information in the calendar now but its not saved to a venue list unless you have BD installed.

I'm looking at adding "something" during November. If TN doesn't come up with a better solution then it will simply be an email address that feeds to a "closings" section and the email subject becomes the headline .... Simple, ugly, prone to abuse... Please TN come up with a better solution.
I still have the 2 msnbot's blocked and they are not crawling our site. However after talking to contacts at Microsoft, I have specifically re-enabled BingBot. It is the primary bot used for seach results and does respect crawl delay directives. It should be noted that if you block msnbot it will also block bingbot unless you specifially allow it. The two msnbots were combining for 25% of my total hits. Bingbot is now consuming less than 5%.
One of the three papers I have on blox is using the Universal Upgrade... I have template certification so I added the code to the headers. I did have an issue with things being double reported for a while because I still had the I'd for google analytics in the Townnews Analytics setup.

Also based on where I added the code I don't think it would be included in touch 5 ... which isn't an issue with this particular site.
