Pinned asset visual indicator if not yet live

Tim Munroe 2 years ago in BLOX CMS 0

New Blox user here.

I think it would be useful if a pinned asset in a block could show it was not yet live ... whether by icon, or a different colour shading. Yes, we can quickly edit the article to check its pub date/time, but it would be nice to see visually which pinned asssets aren't live.

Also, can the block be smart enough to show the maximum number of live articles? If we pin 5 live articles and 5 future articles into a 10-article block, the block shows it's full even though the block on the live site is pulling in 5 articles from query because 5 pinned articles aren't yet live.

Thanks,

Tim

Autosave feature would be useful

Karah 2 years ago in BLOX CMS 0

It would be great to have an autosave feature like in Google Docs. Being able to write in Blox makes the process faster, but not when you accidentally hit "cancel" instead of "insert," and that's from experience.

Email alias for author credit

Tom Houston 2 years ago in BLOX CMS 0

We have a team of freelance journalists who all have BLOX accounts and submit their articles through the CMS for review and publish. Their BLOX accounts use their personal email addresses like Gmail and Yahoo. We would prefer that these email addresses are not visible to the public when the article is published with the author's credit. If would be great if there was a way to choose an "email alias" that would be visible on the frontend of the website instead of the personal address. That way we could collect responses to the articles internally.

Suggestion: Add PUBLISH / DO NOT PUBLISH as an option in TRANSFORMATIONS in Blox Automations

Eric R 3 years ago in BLOX CMS updated 2 years ago 1

It would be great to add PUBLISH status to the transformations that are available in Blox automations.  That way, we could choose to automatically unpublish any content that comes in (via syndication importers) that meets certain criteria.  For instance, we could automatically UNPUBLISH any content that may come from a competitor (by choosing specific words in the byline or body content).  Or, we could UNPUBLISH (and flag for review) any content that would contain certain terms in the TITLE or BODY of the content.

Notifier Rules seem to ignore Imported Syndication Assets.

Jeff Sebestyen 2 years ago in BLOX CMS 0

When I create a fresh asset and assign it to NEWS, a Notifier Rule will engage and post to social media.  However when I import an AP Article from Syndication and assign it to NEWS, nothing happens, no Notifier rules take effect.

Have your newsletter open rates plunged?

Jesus Sanchez 2 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Stacy Johnson 2 years ago 6

Hello. Beginning in the middle of December, the open rates on our newsletters composed on Blox and sent through Constant Contact have plunged from about 50% to the low single digits. This is only happening with the newsletters we create in Blox. The newsletters that we create and send directly from Constant Contact still have those high open rates. I've contacted Blox support and Constant Contact support but so far the problem continues. Has anyone else using Blox and Constant Contact faced this same issue?

Slug gets overwritten well after a story is syndicated

Lindy Ritz 2 years ago in BLOX CMS 0

We are noticing that after we syndicate a story between our market sites (and we update the slug on our side for our own search queries) - the slug will revert to its original format at some point along the way.

If a syndicated article gets updated from its home site, should the slug also syndicate again if its updated? Or is there a way to disable that?

Form submission feature request

Lindy Ritz 2 years ago in BLOX CMS 0

When a reader submits a form with a photo attached, is there no way to automatically 'send' that file into BLOX, rather than have to download it and re-upload it? Its always seemed like an extra step.

Anyone with experience embedding tableau data/displays?

D Sackett 2 years ago in BLOX CMS updated 2 years ago 1

Does anyone have any experience embedding interactive graphics from Tableau? We tried using an embed code in ah HTML asset, but the asset freezes and will not save. Is this something that has to have a design block set up?

html block wont work with javascript

eveningpostdev 2 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Joe Hansen (Product manager) 2 years ago 3

Hello, I am currently trying to add Javascript to change the html text of the block. For some reason the block does not want to accept/recognize the Javascript. Is there a reason for this? should a feature be turned on? Do I need to structure the Javascript in a unique way?

Answer

Hello,

Yes, HTML blocks support javascript, no changes needed. anything like this will work. If you continue to have issues, please open a support ticket and one of our support engineers can look at what you are trying to do.

<h1 id='test'>Test</h1>

[script]

let testTarget = document.getElementById('test');

testTarget.innerHTML = "New Test";

[/script]

*note script tags changed so they can be shown in this editor.

Wishlist: More customizale forms

W. Rags. 7 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by wade 2 years ago 1

Currently all our forms look the same.  Text block at the top, one to 4 pages of fill in the blanks, then submit.  IT would be nice to be able to add HTML, Text, images, etc to the form, as well as having thte ability to have some custom CSS set up to allow for different styles for the forms.  Rounded corners, differing borders (fieldsets), background images, example images, etc all come to mind right away.

As basic as the forms are, they look HORRID in this modern day and age of the internet.  They look like HTML3 level forms, even though you offer HTML5 input items.

We want to be able to customize as much as possible with CSS, as well as have VARIABLES in the Submission and Custom Variable areas.  Something like $DATE, $REFERRER, $LOGINID, etc.  These would be server-side supplied, not something passed to the server to be processed, and would be only available on the last page of any form, at time of final submission.

Facebook comment plugin

Dave Von 6 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by tr tez 2 years ago 13

In the event that anybody else runs into this problem, we identified an issue a few weeks ago where the Facebook comment plugin on our website, GazetteXtra, developed a bug that prevents users of iOS mobile devices from posting comments.

I filed a ticket with Facebook development and was told they have no plans to fix this bug. There is at least one other Town News site, stltoday.com, who identified the same issue as us.

We're going to look at other options for commenting on articles.

Improving site speed

Carl Appen 2 years ago in BLOX CMS 0

Hey folks! Does anyone have tips on improving your BLOX site's load speed? We just get crushed in our Google Search Console report for core web vitals. I did look for previous threads on this topic but the last one was 7 years ago. Safe to say things have probably changed since then.
