How do I disable email notification?

Home Reporter 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Aaron Gillette (Marketing Director, TownNews) 11 years ago 4
Our site currently sends email notifications to the admin email address whenever a calendar item is added. The admin doesn't want to receive these anymore, so I am trying to change the email address for notifications without changing the overall administrator contact info. Is this possible? How do I go about this?

New End of Day Setting in e-Editions

Micah Moore 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Aaron Gillette (Marketing Director, TownNews) 11 years ago 2
Could you explain the function of the newly released End of Day setting in the e-Editions application?
http://docs.townnews.com/kbpublisher/BLOX-e-Editio...

An issue many editors and newsrooms identify is that the publication date of all of our e-Editions is incorrect because our paginators send pages thru the FTP at the end of the day/night prior to 12 a.m. of the actual pub date. We have established this workflow to accommodate limited time and resources to manually adjust the e-edition. It is difficult to search our e-editions by date, because Sunday's edition has a 7-11 p.m. Saturday start date/time.

I have previously submitted a support ticket on this issue, and Matthew Reyes said the resolution was pending a software release and added me to this notification ticket: https://secure.townnews.com/shared-content/townnew...

Title Field notice

Jason Schaefer 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated 11 years ago 8
Can you add a popup notice for the article asset when they have reached a admin set number of characters. Some of our staff can get fairly long winded in the titles even with us constantly reminding them to keep it short.

For example:
System administrators set the notice number at 50. (just an example number)
System administrators set a notice:  "This title is unfriendly for our mobile visitors please shorten"

When they put in a long title and go to the next field they are prompted with the notice.

Flipbook Mode Feature Requests

JenScoop 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Christine Masters 11 years ago 0
The flipbook mode of the e-edition is something we would like to utilize better. Once you zoom in on a page there is no way to scroll up and down a page. The mode doesn't seem very user friendly as the moment but if there was a scroll bar it would be more useful. We would also like our default e-edition to be the Flipbook mode if these changes were implemented.

I've had an issue with recurring events submission from the web.

Terry Yohnka 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Aaron Gillette (Marketing Director, TownNews) 11 years ago 4
When an event had a start time of 7 p.m. and no listed end time, it wasn't able to accept the submission from the web when it was recurring the next day. In other words, I used a recurring event for a Friday/Saturday event that started at 7 p.m. each day. When I put in a start date of 12/12/13 and an end date of 12/13/13, it kept changing the dates so that they were both 12/13/13/ and then gave me an error of "can't be the same day". I supposed the easiest way around it is to create a single day event and then from the Blox CMS duplicate it and change the date. But couldn't understand why this wouldn't work.

Javascript and CSS

Matthew Rosenberg 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Patrick O'Lone (Director of Software Development) 11 years ago 3
The way JS and CSS is currently handled is unmanageable, causes conflicts and crashes my browser, often. Can there please be a comprehensive review of all the <script> blocks and consolidate them in an external file? Same thing for CSS. Preprocessing would be a plus.

Sorting by date and timestamp

Terry Yohnka 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated 11 years ago 2
Sorting is one of my biggest issues. The date/timestamp column only appears to sort by date, not by time. So new entries on a refreshed descending sort will appear in the middle of the list instead of at the top.

Give users the ability to upload an image(s) with their calendar submission from the dashboard

Jacki Gray 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Christine Masters 11 years ago 5

It would be nice if users could upload images for their calendar event submissions on the dashboard. Child image assets would help make our online calendar more dynamic for users.

Cropping Tool Recommendation

Mike DellaVecchia 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Christine Masters 11 years ago 7
One of the biggest challenges I hear about in our newsroom relates to cropping photos using the tool within BLOX.  (1) Most of our staff logically try to crop the original image forgetting about the preview images and since many of the block templates are coded to pull in preview images, their crop edits are never visible online.
(2) Even if they remember to crop the preview image(s), they must do so with great care, keeping the cropped width at 300 pixels wide, again because many of the block templates are coded to pull in preview images that are exactly 300/100 pixels wide. If they fail to do this perfectly, some of the blocks will not show the photo at all.
I've been thinking about this for a long time and think a great solution would be to allow users to crop the original image and upon saving they are prompted with a "yes" or "no" dialog box asking if they would like to re-create preview images based on the latest crop.  This would insure cropped photos carry thru to the preview images and at the proper dimensions for block templates.  Of course the user could always select "no" if they only wished to crop the original image.

If this is doable, I believe this would solve both of the issues detailed above.

Custom Properties

Mike Stickler 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Christine Masters 11 years ago 3
a few things drive me nuts about custom properties for blocks

1. Is there anyway for a block template to expose its custom properties in such a way that when you add a new property, instead of typing in the property name you get a dropdown of properties valid for that block template.
2. Not as big a deal, but ditto for properties that only accept a certain list of values. if the only acceptable values for a property are true and false then why not have a drop down of true and false instead of blank box
3. I often take a screen shot of the custom properties when experimenting with changes or duplicating a certain layout elsewhere. however blocks often have more properties than will appear on screen at one time. the appearance tab of the edit block form has significant unused space below the custom properties block. If you expanded the custom properties to use the unused space it would allow you to see more without scrolling and reduce the number of screen shots I take

Added features for story comments

Lodi News-Sentinel 11 years ago in BLOX CMS updated by Michael Becker 11 years ago 6

One of the more popular online commenting services is Disqus. I'd like to see the BLOX commenting system adopt these features. I've suggested these privately but here they are for all to critique:

For readers, the ability to:

• Upvote or downvote comments.

• Like or dislike other commenters.

• Set a rating threshold for which comments they want to see. For example: "I don't want to see any comments that have a rating of -5 (5 downvotes) or lower."

• Block individual commenters. ("I don"t want to see any comment by user John Smith.")

• Sort comments (e.g. oldest to newest, newest to oldest, highest rated first)

For administrators, the ability to:

• Assign commenters to groups, such as "Trusted" and "Not Trusted" commenters. Trusted commenters have their comments posted immediately without moderation. Not trusted commenters have their comments held for moderation.

• Post customized messages when any comment is removed or posted by a banned user.

• Close comments without removing previous comments.
