Calendar scheduling on front end not detailed
I'm having a business flooding my inbox with calendar events. That's all fine and dandy, but they're making two listings for the same event because there are two schedules. For example one schedule is Mon-Fri from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and the other is Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. In the back end I can condense the two but each time I have to make sure I'm editing the correct event and they aren't actually two separate events.
So is there something I'm missing in the front end that would allow for multiple schedules?

Is anyone else using the "Real Name" option for reader comments on your site? We made the switch earlier this summer.

Content importer author
I'd like the ability to have an email field for a content importer to assign an author rather than automatically assigning the sender of the email as the author. For instance we've got some people who write articles but I just don't trust enough to allow them to email their stories correctly to our breaking news importer. So an editor or someone a little more tech-savvy would have to do it and the system will set them as the author rather than the actual author.
I know there are no other fields available but maybe having a code like >>jsmith<< will be read as the author and John Smith will be set as the author while the rest of the body would be the body of the asset.

Settings > Jobs Import starting at a specific timestamp
Is there a way to have a job feed from an rss start on at a particular day. Example: I have a feed with older content and want to create assets from that feed that were added starting today. Anything older then today would be ignored.

Workflow Alerts
Mark McKillop suggested I make a feature request on this, it came up as we're working on our TCMS install.
We'd like to see the ability to have alerts sent out as assets move through the workflow stages.
For instance, our editors could get an alert when ever a reporter promotes an article from Working to Ready to Edit. Conversely the reporter would get an alert if one of their articles was demoted from Ready to Edit back down to Working (letting them know that fixes are needed).
What do y'all think? Other TCMS users, how are y'all handling notifying reporters if their articles are kicked back from an editor needing changes?

Calendar shows private information
Hi all,
I am trying to figure out what is going on with our calendar. I recently took over this position and a current staff member keeps telling me something is wrong with the calendar entries.
She says the info in red underneath "AUG 15 - GPF NIGHT OF KNIGHTS" has never shown up before. Now, I've gone back and adjusted the calendar schedule for this particular event to ONE date. But it still shows up and I have no idea how to get rid of it. It's happening to all of the calendar entries.

Marketplace listing preview before making it live
Is there a way for advertisers to proof a Marketplace listing before we make it live? I've been told by someone who used to work at a paper with BLOX that their advertisers were able to proof the listings. Thanks!

Hi Nick!
There isn't a way to preview it before making it "live." However, you can set it up and then have the advertiser preview it before you promote it on the front page or elsewhere. That way, they can see it before it gets a lot of traffic... but technically it is still live and able to be found in search.

Custom Facebook OG / Twitter Card metadata for certain Sections/URLs
We’re ramping up our annual Readers’ Choice awards and while working on our social media promotions I realized that our main contest page doesn’t share very well on social media.
It is a page with nothing but HTML assets so the Open Graph tags created by BLOX are all just generic ones for our site. None of the content or images on that page are used for in the metadata for the title, description, image, etc.
A feature I’d like to see added to BLOX would be the ability to create custom Open Graph / Twitter metadata for certain Sections within a site.
This would be helpful in my situation above, but could also be very useful on a day-to-day basis. For example we could reference our sports department’s Twitter account in the metadata for sports stories as opposed to our main news Twitter account.
What do y’all think?

Hi Kevin!
Most of those things are really URL custom properties (they can be assigned in site settings OR on a URL map), so it is possible to add different OG properties to, for example, the sports section.
Here are all the OG properties that are available:
http://docs.townnews.com/kbpublisher/OpenGraph-Tags-URL-Custom-Properties_7768.html
Twitter Cards don't have any custom properties, because they are just automatic based on the content.

Let me know if this works for you! Thanks!

Question about charging tax in BLOX forms
In the BLOX forms, does the system know whether to add tax to someone's purchase total based on what state they're in? We've set up a form to allow Georgia residents and non-Georgia residents to purchase our magazine. But I don't want to have multiple subscriptions for residents and non-residents. So if someone from Florida purchases a subscription, will BLOX know not to charge them the tax?

CSS in article assets
Hello, folks!
Our Editorial staff is looking to get a little more fancy with their articles (finally) and I'm trying to find ways to facilitate that without running into issues regarding layout and coding.
As such, I'm wondering if there is a way to use CSS in an article asset.
Typically, when I want to do any sort of styling in an article asset, I have to do it inline. In most cases, this wouldn't be an issue, but now that multiple platforms need to be considered (mobile, tablets, etc.) it's important to keep in mind screen widths and how this can affect users' views.
If I wanted to just place an image and have it scale, that would be fine, but what if I want it to adjust completely depending on the screen size? In CSS, I would use @media tags, but these do not work inline.
So, long story short, I would like to be able to create <style> tags in article assets and not have the system remove them when I save, or would like some sort of alternative that would allow me to have articles treat things differently depending on screen size.
What can I do?

Has anyone had any "cache-busting" errors returned when they view a page?
I've got a customer who is trying to view my website but he can't view the stories because it gives him a "cache-busting detected" error on the page. The issue originally started when he attempted to send a link to his friend. He first tested the link in his email before sending it to his friend which is when he got the error.
This is the link he sent:
http://www.thebrunswicknews.com/news/local_news/ga-science-teacher-brings-lacrosse-to-coastal-georgia/article_cf44601d-b6c8-5337-bea2-ed725dedf174.html#.VaZcoSg2H4o.email
I notice it has the #.VaZcoSg2H4o.email at the end but I'm not sure if that means anything. So I sent him this link to see if he could view it:

And he still go the cache-busting error.
What's really weird is that when he sent the link to his friend, that friend also gets the same error.

Is there a way to require users to supply name, zip, etc?
I'd like to set up our user registration to require certain fields like first & last names, address, zip, etc. Is there a way for me to do that without template certification? And if that change is made, will it prompt old users to update that info before continuing?
(I swear I'm not trying to fill the forum up with my avatar, I just have a lot of questions that I can't find the answer to on doc.townnews.com)

Hi Nick,
On a Zen site, this would require template certification of some level, but our Customer Support team can help with this as well.
On a Flex site, we've built these in as URL custom properties. You can just go to the user URL and set each available field, and whether you want it to be available, required or hidden.

How to change the background color
Hello, on my paper's website that I'm now running, the background surrounding the blocks is gray and I wanted to know how to change it to a different color. I've tried looking up site and url custom properties, but nothing I try seems to be working. How can I go about changing it?

Hi Jonathan!
It depends on if you have a Flex site or a Zen site. With Flex you can use a URL property, with Zen you need to do a CSS override. Either way, our Customer Support team can help you get this rolling.
